Chile has a well-deserved reputation for producing great value wines, especially in red. Wineries like Concha y Toro produce incredible values that honestly most US producers can’t touch for the same price. Scenically hemmed in between the Pacific and the Andes, vines are protected from the elements and with a ready supply of irrigation provided from the snowmelt, Chile’s vineyards can reliably produce great values vintage after vintage. Dona Florencia is another example of a wine that probably can only exist in Chile! Let’s go down the list of what you want in a Cab: smooth tannins? Check. Bright black fruits? Check. Lingering finish and a lovely mouthfeel? Check. All that for only $9? Double-check!
