Alison Crowe is a fantastically talented winemaker. How do we know? She literally wrote the book! Previously winemaker for Chalone, Bonny Doon and Argentina’s Bodegas Salentin (and responsible for a ton of 90-point wines!), she now makes a few small-production wines that Stew’s is proud to carry. Her Laurel Cellars label is one of our best-sellers, and the Sauvignon Blanc is among our favorites! Where many Sauvignons can get carried away in super-high acid levels that require a dentist’s visit afterwards, Alison tones it down here and allows the citrus and kiwi aromas and flavors to come out front, leaving enough bracing acidity on the palate to enliven the mouth and brighten the fruit. It’s masterfully done, but then again would you expect anything else from the woman who wrote the book on winemaking?
