The rugged hills of Santa Barbara lie roughly two hours northwest from Los Angeles. One of the earliest wine regions in the US, vineyards were first planted by Spanish missionaries in the 1700’s! The past two decades have seen amazing growth in the prestige of wines from the area, and for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay it’s considered the premier area of the state. Cooler temperatures from the proximity of the Pacific leads to wines that are ripe, yet elegant. Venue is a great example of the Santa Barbara style, but at a fraction of the price of the better known examples! The oak is barely present, allowing the tropical fruit notes to shine through. Once in the mouth, the fruit explodes across the palate, yet the bright acidity zips through like a laser beam, cleansing and leaving you ready for the next sip.
