Here’s a little-known fact: people in the wine business people LOVE Riesling! Not the Blue Nun or Liebfraumilch that colored the 1970’s and 80’s, but the food-friendly, sweet balanced by good acidity Rieslings that are such great values today. Wavelength fits squarely into this category: though the label says “sweet Riesling” it’s really not; there certainly a bit of tropical fruit sweetness, but it’s not dominant. What you do perceive is honeysuckle, melon and apricot notes, with a lively supporting structure provided by Riesling’s classic acidity. The sum is refreshing and enjoyable, and the lower alcohol leaves you ready for another glass.
