TALK WINE AND "SPIRITS" WITH DAN AYKROYD AT STEW LEONARD'S WINES OF CLIFTON
Sample His Crystal Head Vodka and Discovery Series Wines and Get Personally Autographed Bottles
WHAT:
Stew Leonard's Wines of Clifton is hosting a bottle signing and sampling event with comedian, actor, screenwriter, musician and now wine and vodka- maker Dan Aykroyd. Dan will be signing bottles of his Crystal Head Vodka and Discovery Series Wines.
Crystal Head Vodka:
Aykroyd's fascination with ghosts, spirits and extraterrestrial life fostered the creation of his Crystal Head Vodka, an ultra-premium "pure spirit" free of any additives such as sugar, glycerin and citrus oil. It is quadruple distilled and triple filtered through polished crystals known as Herkimer Diamonds. The vodka is bottled in a sculpted glass replica of one of the legendary 13 Crystal Heads, believed to project enlightenment, positive energy, and mystical properties.
Dan Aykroyd Discovery Series Wines:
Dan's intention with the Discovery Series is to take away the snob appeal associated with wine. He has created wines that are Sonoma in style with a Burgundian flair—perfect for enjoying with family and friends.
Chardonnay: Blended from vineyards from Sonoma's finest terroirs, including the Russian River Valley, this wine balances a fresh mouthfeel with a soft, creamy texture. Aged in French and American oak, it is round and full-bodied with sweet vanilla notes and good depth. The wine has a floral nose, is fruit-forward in flavor with notes of pear, apple and pineapple, and has slight vanilla on the back palate.
Cabernet Sauvignon: With grapes sourced primarily from the Alexander Valley, this is an elegant and complex Cabernet blended in the true Bordeaux tradition. It is well balanced with wonderful ripe aromas of blackberry and raspberry completed by a touch of spice at the finish.
WHO:
Dan Aykroyd is best known as a comedian, actor, screenwriter and musician, gaining fame on the late night comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL), where he was an Emmy-winning writer and cast member from 1975 to 1979 and played beloved character roles, most notably Elwood Blues of the Blues Brothers. After leaving SNL Dan moved onto the big screen, starring in several hit movies over the years, including The Blues Brothers, Trading Places, Spies Like Us, Ghostbusters and Driving Miss Daisy, his first dramatic role for which he earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination. In 1992, Dan tried his skills at business and founded the wildly popular House of Blues. These days Dan devotes himself to his two passions--fine wine and spirits.
